The person in this position is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the management of various multifamily rental projects within the VHFA portfolio including: the monitoring of the financial and physical status of projects; establishing and maintaining good working relationships with project owners, managers, and service providers; and performing compliance monitoring functions, including site visits and tenant file reviews to ensure projects stay in compliance with provisions of regulatory agreements and conditions imposed by applicable funding sources provided by VHFA, as well as HUD Section 8, and the IRS Section 42 (Housing Credits) program. 

Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, a minimum of four years’ experience in affordable housing programs, and familiarity with real estate financing. Certification as a Housing Manager and/or Housing Credit Certified Professional is desirable, as is knowledge of federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, State Housing Tax Credits, subsidized housing or HUD Section 8 Occupancy, and knowledge of other state and federal housing programs. In addition, candidates must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

This position requires regular travel throughout Vermont with a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience with automated housing software databases and systems, are also required.
