The 2024 Statewide Housing Conference Planning Committee has been working hard to organize our biennial conference, which will take place on November 14th in South Burlington. This is an event you won’t want to miss – and registration is now open!

2024 Vermont Statewide Housing Conference

This statewide conference will highlight workshops such as “Intro to Energy Justice in Housing”, “Affordable Housing for Vermont’s Farmworkers”, and “Ensuring Shelter When There Are No Homes”. Also included will be a BIPOC Focus Group and spaces for networking and connecting.

But that’s not all: we are excited to announce that Heather McGhee will be our keynote speaker. Ms. McGhee is an author and public policy leader who helped build the think tank Demos, a nonprofit public policy organization working towards a multiracial democracy. She is the author of The Sum of Us, a national bestseller discussing how racial discrimination harms us all. She will bring an important perspective to this conference, teaching us all how to work toward a just and equitable democracy – starting with housing.

We hope you will join us for this inspirational event at a time when it couldn’t be more necessary to invest in affordable housing.  Vermont's recent housing needs assessment shows a need for 24,000-36,000 more homes – and that this gap hurts low income and vulnerable communities the most.

By coming together to join all our passions and expertise, we can help move the needle towards a secure and affordable housing market. So, whether you’re new to these issues or have been involved in affordable housing for decades, this conference is for you.
