Marie Milord-Ajanma

Governor Phil Scott has appointed Marie Milord-Ajanma (she/her) of Waterbury to Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA)’s Board of Commissioners.

Marie Milord-Ajanma has worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2006. An Army veteran herself, Milord-Ajanma supervises a team of therapists who offer counseling and other support services to combat veterans as they transition from military to civilian life. She holds a master's degree in counseling from Argosy University in Washington, DC. Milord-Ajanma also brings housing expertise to her role on the Board through her work as a Realtor with Hickey & Foster Real Estate, a division of Keller Williams Vermont.

“Marie brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience to VHFA’s Board,” said VHFA Executive Director Maura Collins. “Her knowledge of the home sale market and her experience with veterans, a traditionally underserved group, will be invaluable.”

There are nine members of VHFA’s Board of Commissioners. They include four ex officio members and five members appointed by the Governor of Vermont, representing private and public lending, real estate, housing and community interests. Appointees are confirmed by the State Senate Finance Committee and serve a four-year term, which can be renewed. Milord-Ajanma will replace Lamont Barnett of Bellows Falls after 10 years of service to VHFA’s Board.
