The Vermont Department of Labor released its Economic-Demographic Profile of Vermont, 2010 yesterday.
The report contains a variety of easy-to-use estimates and indicators about labor markets, population trends, commuting, housing, and schools at the state, county, and town levels.
Here are a few examples of the report’s numerous estimates:
- Counties experiencing the largest population gains between 2000 and 2009 were located in the northwest/northern part of the state: Lamoille, Grand Isle and Franklin counties.
- Chittenden County has the lowest proportion of residents over the age of 55 (22.7%), while Bennington, Essex, Rutland, Windham and Windsor counties have in excess of 30% of their populations in the over-55 group.
- More than a thousand people who worked in the Northeast Kingdom (Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties) in 2008 lived in New Hampshire or Maine.
