This in-person conference, held every two years the week after the national election, is Vermont's largest convening of affordable housing professionals and advocates. Drawing 400-500 attendees in recent years, it has become a much anticipated opportunity to network, learn and act.
The conference will start with a legislative breakfast and keynote speaker Heather McGhee, national political contributor, educator, public policy leader and author of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, which spent 10 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Later in the day, national, state and local experts will run 17 breakout sessions on pressing housing challenges and tools, including climate equity, tools for small scale developers, and the Vermont Zoning Atlas.
At Thursday's conference, the 2024 Vermont Housing Hero will be announced. Since 2002, this award has recognized individuals whose leadership, vision and actions have brought about positive and lasting change in meeting Vermont’s housing needs.
