Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) and HowardCenter will rehabilitate a property on Burlington's St. Paul Street to provide housing for 16 residents living at Lakeview, a property on North Avenue recently sold by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vermont to Burlington College.
Permits from the City of Burlington have been approved and work began last week.
HowardCenter will provide the same services at the new location as it did at Lakeview.
“We are very pleased to be able to team with the HowardCenter to provide an opportunity for safe and stable housing for their clients,” said Michael Monte, CHT Chief Operating and Financial Officer. “Secure housing is critical to everyone regardless of income or ability, and we are happy to help these people who lived on North Avenue in Burlington find that security in the city.”
“The Champlain Housing Trust has been wonderful to work with on this project. The residents and staff of Lakeview are grateful,” said Todd Centybear, HowardCenter’s Executive Director.
