Last week the Vermont Statewide Housing Conference recognized the contributions of Julie Bond and Rick DeAngelis of Good Samaritan Haven by selecting them for this year’s Vermont Housing Hero award. Good Samaritan Haven is a non-profit providing emergency assistance to people experiencing homelessness in Central Vermont.  

Bond and DeAngelis were selected to receive the award due to their dedication to expanding shelter capacity, providing stability for people experiencing homelessness and for shaping the non-profit into a critical resource of Central Vermont’s most vulnerable residents. Bond is the current Executive Director of Good Samaritan Haven and DeAngelis is Senior Advisor and the former executive director.

This in-person conference, held every two years the week after the national election, is Vermont's largest convening of affordable housing professionals and advocates. Drawing 400-500 attendees in recent years, it has become a much anticipated opportunity to network, learn and act.  

Catherine Lange (she/her) of Burlington has joined VHFA in the role of Multi-Family Building & Design Analyst.

Lange recently graduated from UVM with an MBA in Sustainable Innovation. She previously worked as an Associate Principal for Freeman French Freeman Architecture and an Architectural Designer for Scott + Partner Architects. She is an Architect with LEED AP Building Design + Construction certification and has extensive experience working on projects in Vermont, including some VHFA-financed projects!
