The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has updated the building permits dataset published on HousingData.org to reflect the newest official releases from the U.S. Census Bureau for 2025. The latest data show that 2,294 buildings were permitted statewide. This represents a slight dip in building permits compared to the previous year, which had been steadily increasing since 2019.
Vermont Housing Finance Agency is pleased to announce the hiring of Sara Flagler as the agency’s next Homeownership Director. In her new role, Flagler will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of VHFA’s homeownership programs including mortgage and downpayment assistance for homebuyers as well as homeownership development programs.
New analysis of Vermont’s Grand List on HousingData.org shows that in 2025, there were approximately 240k residential properties in Vermont, marking an increase of 13k residential properties in Vermont since 2015. Overall, these new properties represent a 6% increase in the total housing stock over the decade.
