The Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness has issued a Request for Proposals to be funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) as part of the FY2021 CoC Program Notice of Funding Availability. 

The Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness is the Vermont Balance of State Continuum of Care (VT BoS CoC), which serves Vermonters experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The VT BoS CoC geographic area encompasses all counties in Vermont except Chittenden County. Applications will be submitted to the Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA), who serves as the “Collaborative Applicant”.

Housing leaders statewide have partnered to host a full-day Housing Summit on Wednesday, October 13 in Arlington. Municipal officials, housing developers, nonprofits, legislators and anyone having an interest in supporting the development of quality housing is encouraged to attended. 

VHFA will join representatives from the Department of Housing and Community Development, Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, the Bennington County Regional Commission and other experts to share case studies drawn from Vermont communities and best practices to promote affordable housing development.

On Monday, the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Board of Commissioners awarded $425,000 in state housing tax credits for homeownership development projects. Once sold to investors, the credits will yield nearly $2 million in equity for construction. The projects will create new, high-quality homes affordable to low- and moderate-income Vermont homebuyers, which are virtually unavailable in Vermont’s in private housing market.

On August 13, 2021, VHFA released the draft Homeowner Assistance Fund plan for submission to the U.S. Treasury describing homeowner needs and proposed programs to be offered through the Vermont Homeowner Assistance Program. The plan is based on data pertaining to homeowner needs and input provided by community and state organizations committed to serving low and moderate income Vermont homeowners. VHFA held 3 public meetings in June 2021 to discuss the upcoming program.
