Vermont's plan to preserve affordable rental housing was one topic of discussion at "Partners in Innovation: A Dialogue on Federal, State and Local Rental Preservation Solutions," a symposium held Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

The National Housing Conference and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation co-hosted the invite-only event, which brought together experts from across the nation to discuss the importance of preserving affordable housing during this housing crisis.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan, Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack spoke at the event.

VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter attended the event.

Vermont was one of 12 states and cities that received a total of $32.5 in grants and low-cost loans from the MacArthur Foundation.
