The Children’s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) invites community members to nominate subsidized housing communities in Vermont and New Hampshire to participate in a free program that promotes a love of books and reading among at-risk children.
The winning properties will receive:
- An on-site library of free children’s books
- An on-site event with a dynamic storyteller
- A new book for every child to keep
Eligible properties include state, municipal or privately-run properties, apartment complexes or mobile home parks that accept Section 8 vouchers or similar programs. Nominations may be submitted by community members, resident committees and boards, housing property staff, staff of another organizations, or volunteers.
You may nominate yourself for this award and you may nominate more than one site. Here's how:
- Write a paragraph or two telling CLiF about the property and how a donation of new books will benefit the children and families served.
- Tell CLiF approximately how many children live at the site.
- Does the site have a location for a community presentation? Does the site have the ability to host a lending library of children’s books?
- Give CLiF the name and contact information for the individual who offers programming or special events for residents. This could be an employee of the property, an employee of another agency, or an active volunteer.
- Include your contact name, address with ZIP code, phone number and email address.
Send your nomination via email no later than June 25 to [email protected] or mail your application to Suzanne Loring, CLiF, 1536 Loomis Hill Road, Waterbury Center, VT 05677.
