Now through the Vermont Statewide Housing Conference, Nov. 18, we’re spotlighting speakers planning to participate in the day’s bevy of workshops. Next up: Jeff Arango, AICP, Principal at Arango Urban Design + Planning.

Jeff's an urban planner and designer with extensive experience in the public and private sector. He served as the Planning Director for Essex Junction for six years where he lead the effort to revitalize the historic village center that resulted in three major streetscape improvement projects. He served as the project manager for the downtown streetscape planning effort and the implementation and construction phases, and was successful in designating the first national register historic district in the downtown area.

Other areas of experience and expertise include transit-oriented development, environmental planning, urban revitalization, form-based codes and development regulations, infill development, public involvement, historic preservation, sustainability, urban design and specific area plans.

While working as a planner in Vermont, Jeff served on the executive committee of the Vermont Planners Association (VPA) and on the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organizations (CCMPO) Technical Advisory Committee.

Jeff has a bachelors degree in Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and a Master of Urban Planning degree with a certificate of excellence in Urban Design from the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.
