VHFA will hold a 4th public meeting on Thursday, August 19, 2021 to review Vermont's draft Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) plan. The meeting will be held via Zoom at noon. Registration is required.

HAF

The Homeowner Assistance Fund was created by the federal American Rescue Plan Act to help homeowners avoid foreclosure and displacement by mitigating financial hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund will provide Vermont up to $50 million over a multi-year period to provide assistance for mortgage and other expenses facing Vermont homeowners. Vermont's HAF plan must describe the needs of the state's homeowners, the design and budget for each program proposed for funding with HAF funds, performance goals, and information regarding readiness to implement the programs.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Treasury issued more detailed guidance about the components and submission process for HAF plans.

A draft HAF plan reflecting this guidance, as well public comments submitted during the past few months, will be posted online by August 13. To review the draft plan and get the latest information about the status of the HAF program in Vermont, please check the Vermont HAF news web page.
