As baby boomers age and die, population growth among all adults will start a long-term, substantial decline in 2020, reports Harvard’s George Masnick.
Whether this decline will affect the demand for newly-built homes among younger people is uncertain. Masnick writes that “many homes vacated by aging seniors will not be in demand by tomorrow’s young adults.” Reasons boomers’ homes may not appeal to young buyers include location and that many will be too expensive.
