Pleasant Hills in Bristol celebrates redevelopment
VHFA Executive Director Maura Collins joined Housing Vermont and Addison County Community Trust (ACCT) in Bristol last week to celebrate the redevelopment of Pleasant Hills. The complex offers 16 affordable one and two bedroom-apartments for seniors in a village setting. The project received the majority of its funding from federal tax credits and loans awarded by VHFA.
Ribbon cutting celebrated at Monument View in Bennington
Last week, VHFA joined Shires Housing and Housing Vermont to celebrate the long-awaited opening of Monument View Apartments in downtown Bennington. Named for its outlook over the Bennington Battle Monument, the complex includes 24 affordable one and two bedroom-apartments. The project received the majority of its funding from federal tax credits awarded by VHFA.
Ribbon cutting celebrated at Wentworth Community Housing
Earlier this week, local leaders, housing developers and new residents gathered in White River Junction to celebrate the opening of Wentworth Community Housing. The project, developed by Twin Pines Housing and Housing Vermont, created 30 one and two bedroom apartments, 21 of which will be rented at rates affordable to low income Vermonters. The project received the majority of its funding from federal tax credits and a loan awarded by VHFA.

VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter joined affordable housing partners in South Burlington last week to celebrate the completion of Allard Square. The project, developed by Cathedral Square Corporation and Synder-Braverman Development Company, created 39 one and two bedroom apartments for seniors, 29 of which will be rented at rates affordable to low income Vermont seniors. The project was funded in large part by federal tax credits and a loan awarded by VHFA.
Ribbon-cutting celebrated at Hickory Street in Rutland
Residents of Hickory Street apartments in Rutland celebrated the completion of the total redevelopment of their complex at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held last week. The project, sponsored by Rutland Housing Authority and Housing Vermont, transformed a public housing development previously known as Forest Park. The project was supported by Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), which awarded state and federal tax credits.
Groundbreaking celebrated at Snow Block in Brattleboro
Governor Phil Scott joined state legislators, Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, and VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter in Brattleboro last week to celebrate the groundbreaking of Snow Block apartments. The project will create 18 affordable apartments for low-income Vermonters as part of a 23-unit mixed-income building. The affordable units will be rented permanently at well below market rates. The project was funded in large part by federal low-income housing tax credits awarded by VHFA.
Winooski River Apartments receive major renovation
Earlier this month, Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) joined Downstreet Housing & Community Development in celebrating the completion of renovations of the Winooski River Apartments in Montpelier. The project was funded in part by VHFA, which awarded both state and federal tax credits as well as construction financing. This renovation allows Downstreet to preserve affordable, historic apartments while significantly improving the energy-efficiency and accessibility of the buildings.
Construction begins at Casavant Overlook
Last week, affordable housing partners and city officials celebrated the groundbreaking of Casavant Overlook apartments off of East Allen Street in Winooski’s Gateway District. The project is being developed by Green Mountain Development Group and will be managed on-site by Summit Properties. Casavant Overlook will offer 39 mixed-income apartments, 27 of which will be affordable for low-income households. In addition, four of the affordable units will have access to on-site services provided by the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) to support formerly homeless and at-risk households.
Groundbreaking celebrated at Garden Street Apartments
VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter joined affordable housing partners and elected officials to celebrate the start of construction of Garden Street Apartments on Market and Garden Streets in South Burlington. The apartments will be built by Snyder Braverman Development and sold to Champlain Housing Trust and Housing Vermont upon completion. The project will create 42 affordable apartments for low-income Vermonters as part of a 60 unit mixed income building. The affordable units will be rented permanently at well below market rates.
