Chittenden Homeless Alliance Coordinator

The Chittenden Homeless Alliance has a unique and interesting part-time position (20 hours/week) open for a detail oriented, consensus building, people-person to provide support to the Chittenden County Homeless Alliance's mission to end homelessness in our community.  In a cooperative arrangement, this new position will be based at Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), located in downtown Burlington VT.

The Chittenden Homeless Alliance Coordinator will support the work of the Alliance under the direction of its Steering Committee.  Specific responsibilities, as well as desired job knowledge and experience, are detailed in the attached job description.  Bring your organizational and "IT savvy" skills to our groundbreaking collective impact approach and be a part of this critical change process.

Multifamily Housing Management Officer

Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), located in Burlington VT, has an immediate opening for a Multifamily Housing Management Officer.  Named  the “Best Small/Medium Place to Work in Vermont” in 2016, VHFA is looking for an individual who will help us to maintain our great reputation, and who demonstrates a strong work ethic, is creative, puts customers first, and works well both independently and as a team player.

The Multifamily Housing Management Officer is responsible for the monitoring and overseeing the management of various multifamily rental projects in the VHFA portfolio. This involves monitoring both the financial and physical status of the project, while establishing and maintaining good working relationships with project owners, managers and service providers. The Management Officer performs compliance monitoring functions, including site visits and tenant file reviews to ensure projects remain in compliance with provisions of regulatory agreements and conditions imposed by applicable funding sources provided by VHFA, as well as HUD Section 8 and the IRS Section 42 (Housing Credits) program, as they apply.  Also responsible for initiating workouts and facilitating financial restructuring or loan modifications for portfolio loans.

Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, a minimum of four years’ experience in affordable housing programs, and familiarity with real estate financing.  Certification as a Housing Manager and/or Housing Credit Certified Professional is desirable, as is knowledge of federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, State Housing Tax Credits, subsidized housing or HUD Section 8 Occupancy, and knowledge of other state and federal housing programs.  This position requires regular travel throughout Vermont with a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience with automated housing software databases and systems, are also required.

In addition, candidates must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Must be a highly organized self-starter, able to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines, while working with a wide range of individuals, both internal and external to the Agency.  VHFA has a strong cohesive team environment and is looking for an individual who desires to contribute and be part of that team.
