The Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) announced the TD Charitable Foundation has awarded the organization a $50,000 capital grant.

The grant, made in conjunction with TD Charitable Foundation’s “Housing for Everyone” competition, will help CHT implement an innovative energy pilot program to reduce the energy bills of owners of its shared equity homes.

Thanks to National Low Income Housing Coalition Executive Director Sheila Crowley for passing along this photo of her in Bellagio, Italy, where she spent a recent sabbatical courtesy of the Rockerfeller Foundation.

She writes, "Of all the conference bags I have gotten over the years, the one I like and use the most is the one from the Vermont Housing Conference in 2004."

The Vermont Statewide Housing Conference was the subject of a feature story in this Monday's Business Monday section of The Burlington Free Press.

The biennial event is known for bringing together people who might not always see Vermont's housing situation from the same viewpoint — one of the things that makes the day so important (and fun).

Another speaker has confirmed for tomorrow's Vermont Statewide Housing Conference: Governor-elect Peter Shumlin will address the attendees during the noon hour.

Shumlin will speak from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., and take questions from the audience.

Tomorrow's conference is near capacity, but we'll accept walk-ins as space allows.

Doors open at 8 a.m., with the final event, a networking reception, wrapping up at 5:30 p.m.
