Voters in Stockbridge, Vermont approved a plan to allow a federally-financed buyout of 13 homes, irreparably damaged when Tropical Storm Irene caused unprecedented flooding of the Tweed River. 

The houses will be demolished and their lots converted into town-owned green space,  according to a story in today's Burlington Free Press.

VHFA-ers formed a special connection with some Stockbridge residents shortly after the flood when delivering gift baskets of household items and gift cards. Resident Glen Eldridge is shown at right with VHFA's Martha Fidalgo.
