Applications are now open for nominating the 2024 Housing Hero. Recipients will be announced at this year’s Statewide Housing Conference on November 14 in South Burlington. You can submit nominations for the 2024 Housing Hero by completing this short nomination form. Submissions are due by Noon on November 7.

Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is pleased to announce that Seth Leonard, VHFA Managing Director of Community Development, has been selected for the Fulcrum Fellowship of the Center for Community Investment (CCI) at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.

Burlington, VT – Vermont Housing Finance Agency’s Seth Leonard of Winooski was named one of Vermont Business Magazine’s (VBM) Rising Stars. These awards honor 40 individuals under the age of 40, chosen for their commitment to business growth, professional excellence, and their overall contributions to the Vermont economy and their communities.  

New England Resident Service Coordinators Inc. (NERSC) is calling for nominations for its annual Excellence in Service Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement and extraordinary performance among Resident Service Coordinators, housing management companies and others working in the field of housing services throughout New England.

VHFA is pleased to announce the 2018 Top Performers across the local Vermont banks, credit unions and mortgage companies who participate in the VHFA single family homeownership program.  VHFA's participating lenders are essential to meeting VHFA's mission to provide homeownership opportunities for low to moderate income Vermont households.

Earlier this week, VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter was honored by the VHFA Board of Commissioners with a resolution in recognition of her 20 years of service as head of the agency.

L. Randolph Amis, Chair of Board of Directors, praised Carpenter for her “grace, good humor, and dogged resolution” in her leadership of VHFA and her advocacy for affordable housing.

The Vermont Chamber of Commerce recently named Leo O’Brien Jr. and Daniel J. O’Brien, founder of O’Brien Brothers real estate development, as the 2018 Citizens of the Year. Among their many other accomplishments, the brothers have a long history of investment in affordable housing in Vermont.
