New England Housing Network Annual Conference
At its annual conference last month, VHFA’s executive director, Sarah Carpenter, was re-elected to the Board of the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) Board of Directors.
Over 250 people attended the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont's 35th Annual Better Homes Award banquet last month. This event, known as the “Academy Awards” of the Vermont home building industry, showcased premier residential and commercial construction projects in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, Lamoille and Washington counties.

About 430 people packed the Burlington Hilton yesterday to listen, share, and address Vermont’s most pressing housing finance problems. Governor Shumlin opened the conference by recounting the challenges the state has overcome since the unprecedented devastation of Tropical Storm Irene.
Xavier de Souza Briggs, of MIT, will deliver the keynote address at the Vermont Statewide Housing Conference on Thursday. Mr. Briggs is widely known for his far reaching academic and on-the-ground expertise in sociology, urban planning, and housing.
VHFA's Maura Collins received a Rising Star award at the Vermont Business Magazine’s annual awards dinner last week. Rising Star awards recognize 40 of Vermont’s most accomplished young leaders, all of whom are younger than 40.
