The Burlington Free Press published an editorial this morning titled "Housing affordability goes beyond buying."
The piece comes on the heals of the latest edition of "Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Housing and Wages in Vermont," which we released Tuesday.
"Focusing too heavily on what it takes to buy a home makes it too easy to overlook other options — including renting," the piece states.
Regarding our state's rental needs, the new report includes a section that describes the challenges facing renters in Vermont: the growing Fair Market Rent, now $914 for a modest, two-bedroom apartment; and Vermont's rental vacancy rate of 3.9 percent, the lowest in the nation.
