Every year landlords are required to provide each of their tenants with a completed Landlord Certificate (LC-142) by January 31 if they have 2 or more residential units or upon request if they have only 1 residential unit, according to recent guidance from the VT Department of Taxes.

A new registry listing all Springfield apartment buildings was proposed Monday night, according to the March 26, 2013 Barre Montpelier Time Argus.  

One of the driving factors behind the registry is fire safety.   The article describes the challenges that face fire fighters who arrive at a building and do not know how many households might be inside.
