Tufts University graduate student Tin Skoric has been named the Spring 2025 Vermont Housing Fellow. The Vermont Housing Fellowship program is intended to provide the Fellow with valuable experience aiding their professional development. Mr. Skoric will receive a financial stipend to develop visualizations and data analysis regarding Vermont’s ever-changing housing market and the affordability of Vermont homes.
Vermont’s homelessness rate remains among the highest in 2024
Compared to all other states, Vermont had the fourth highest rate of homelessness in 2024, according to HUD’s Annual Homelessness Assessment Report. For every 10,000 Vermonters, 53 experienced homelessness, based on the Point-In-Time count completed across the country in January. Hawaii, New York and Oregon had rates higher than Vermont.
Surveys to help guide Vermont housing policy and planning
The State of Vermont’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is inviting the public to complete a survey on community needs to inform its upcoming HUD Consolidated Plan. Your input will assist the DHCD in developing a new five-year Consolidated Plan for 2025-2029, as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Celebrating 50 years of impactful partnerships
Earlier this month VHFA celebrated its 50 year history by honoring the community of partners and current and former staff intrinsic in VHFA's work. At an evening gathering at HULA in Burlington on Lake Champlain, VHFA Board of Commissioners chair Katie Buckley thanked the mortgage lenders, housing developers, lawmakers, state agency partners, financial institutions and advocates needed for VHFA to carry out it's mission.
