Vermont State Housing Authority (VSHA) is the newest Premier Sponsor for the 2024 Vermont Statewide Housing Conference. This year’s conference, to be held on November 14, 2024, in South Burlington, will bring hundreds of Vermonters from across the state together to discuss the future of affordable housing in Vermont.

The Statewide Housing Conference, an institution of Vermont’s affordable housing network for more than 20 years, brings together a diverse array of housing professionals and community activists, including legislators, town and regional planners, advocates, developers, and bankers. The conference offers a unique opportunity to network with others interested in affordable housing formally and informally, providing space for attendees to learn about what others are doing to address the challenges of our current moment.

This year's keynote speaker, Heather McGhee, is an author, national political contributor, educator, and public policy leader. Heather is the author of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, which spent 10 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and was longlisted for the National Book Award and Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction.

Following the keynote address, attendees can choose from a set of workshops featuring a comprehensive range of topics, including: housing development, homeownership, housing policy & planning, energy efficiency, homelessness & housing services, and other special topics. This exciting event would not be possible without sponsors like the Vermont State Housing Authority. Beyond serving as a Premium sponsor of the conference, VSHA oversees the essential work of ensuring housing is affordable for more than 8,500 Vermont families. With a mission “to ensure that quality affordable housing opportunities are available to Vermonters statewide,” VSHA serves as the state’s Housing Choice Voucher administer, as a key property manager of hundreds of units of affordable housing, and as an advocate for sustainable affordable housing in the legislature.
