The Vermont Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIAVT) is partnering with the Vermont Chapter of the Constructions Specifications Institute (CSI VT) to offer pro-bono design and planning input for Vermont nonprofits, municipalities, and community-based groups.

The State of Vermont's Department of Housing and Community Development will conduct a public hearing to receive input on its Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Consolidated 2019 Action Plan.

The Vermont Chamber of Commerce recently named Leo O’Brien Jr. and Daniel J. O’Brien, founder of O’Brien Brothers real estate development, as the 2018 Citizens of the Year. Among their many other accomplishments, the brothers have a long history of investment in affordable housing in Vermont.

New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) President/CEO John J. Dwyer, Jr. announced today a $500,000 grant from NEFCU to Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) to address the area’s shortage of housing affordable to Vermonters with low and moderate incomes. The money will support construction and renovation costs for perpetually affordable homes in Bristol, Jericho and several other towns. 

Doug Hemmings, President of Vermont Resident Service Coordinators (VRSC), passed away this week after a brief illness.

Residents of Hickory Street apartments in Rutland celebrated the completion of the total redevelopment of their complex at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held last week. The project, sponsored by Rutland Housing Authority and Housing Vermont, transformed a public housing development previously known as Forest Park.

Governor Phil Scott joined state legislators, Windham & Windsor Housing Trust, and VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter in Brattleboro last week to celebrate the groundbreaking of Snow Block apartments. The project will create 18 affordable apartments for low-income Vermonters as part of a 23-unit mixed-income building.
