Gov. Jim Douglas joined housing representatives, residents, local and state officials in cutting the ribbon on Meadowlane Apartments in Milton yesterday.
The project, originally built in 1980, includes 20 newly-renovated units and an additional 16 units of new affordable housing.
"Not only is this property affordable, but it's designed to use a renewable energy source — solar panels — that'll heat the water and contribute to environmental conservation," said Richard Williams, Executive Director of the Vermont State Housing Authority.
VHFA Senior Development Underwriter Cindy Reid also spoke at the event.
VHFA provided construction financing and allocated $326,000 in federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
