TD Bank is making $2 million in grants available to housing organizations through its TD Charitable Foundation.
The "2009 Housing for Everyone" competition is open to non-profit organizations and state and local government entities that develop or maintain affordable housing, or provide affordable housing-related programs or services targeting low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
This year the program focuses on housing stabilization.
The competition will fund the most innovative plans that help families stay in their homes or help maintain and protect neighborhoods from deterioration caused by foreclosure and abandonment.
Applications must be completed online at the foundation's Web site before 4 p.m. Eastern time Sept. 4.
Winners will be announced in late October.
Last year, there were three recipients located in Vermont. The foundation awarded $50,000 to Central Vermont Community Land Trust, Champlain Housing Trust and Windham Housing Trust.
