Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is seeking feedback and comments on the Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) that guides the Agency in making housing tax credit allocation decisions. The Agency has now opened the initial comment period and will close the period at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Board of Commissioners announced on Monday April 15, 2024, that its annual award of federal housing tax credits will support the construction of 156 homes in perpetually affordable apartment buildings in five communities across the state. The sale of this year’s tax credits to investors is expected to yield over $40 million in funds, covering an estimated 60 percent of total project development costs.

VHFA announces BIPOC developer technical assistance request for proposals
Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is seeking an organization or consortium to design a housing development technical assistance (TA) program for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) seeking to develop housing in Vermont. VHFA is providing up to $15,000 for a contractor or consortium to design a TA program that could be operationalized in 2024. The initial funding is essentially a planning grant to develop programming components.
HUD issues Notice of Funding Opportunity for Sec. 811 Program
HUD is seeking applicants for the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Program. This program aims to expand the supply of integrated affordable housing by providing Capital Advance funding for the development of permanent supportive rental housing for very-low-income persons with disabilities who are 18 years of age or older and less than 62 years of age at entry.
VHFA receives $7.5 million in federal and philanthropic awards for investments in affordable housing
Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) announced it received $7.5 million for housing through a federal award and a generous philanthropic donation. Together, these awards will support the development or preservation of over 300 affordable rental homes, as well as establishing an innovative pilot project to support smaller-scale community housing projects.
