Chris Cochran leads a talented, multi-disciplinary team in the Community Planning + Revitalization Division at the Vermont Department of Housing & Community Development. Together, they oversee a $40M budget and take a place-based approach to land-use planning and community development to empower state and local leaders to plan for and build vibrant, inclusive, and resilient downtowns, villages and neighborhoods. Chris earned a Master’s in Historic Preservation from the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design, and previously led projects at UGA’s Center for Community Design and Preservation. He serves on the Town of Calais’ Design Advisory Board and lives in an old village store with his wife, Stephanie, and their cat Eloise.
