With greater dissention than in the Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the fiscal cliff compromise bill last night. Despite considerable debate among House members about a lack of spending cuts, the bill retains a provision fixing the 9% credit rate for Low Income Housing Tax Credit allocations made up to January 1, 2014, according to analysis by the Housing Advisory Group.
Green Mountain Power offers discount to lower income Vermont residents
Eligible households who are customers of Green Mountain Power can get a 25% discount off the monthly charge for the first 600 kilowatt hours of energy they use. This discount will save some households a total of up to $300 each year. The program is administered by the Vermont Department for Children and Families.
Mittens stuffed with holiday cheer for neighbors at King Street Center
VHFA-ers made a special delivery before closing the office for the holidays. Agency elves stuffed 88 pairs of mittens, gloves and hats with goodies for children and families at Burlington's King Street Center. Most outerwear was donated by VHFA staff and community members. More mittens were donated through VHFA's festive Facebook "Like" challenge.
