People working to help the homeless in rural areas can get a little help themselves when they log in to a free webinar Tuesday, June 23 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Speakers from the National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) will explore the challenges rural Continuums of Care face as they implement their Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) plans.

Speakers include Jamey Burden, NAEH; and Douglas Argue and Jonda Clemings, COHHIO.

Supporters of a proposed housing development in Shelburne are holding a rally in advance of tonight's Shelburne Development Review Board (DRB) meeting.

The proposal would replace the Shelburnewood Mobile Home Park with a mix of affordable, work-place and market-rate housing, including senior housing.

The plan calls for at least 53 percent of the development's family and workforce units — and at least 38 percent of the senior citizen units — to be affordable.

Tonight the DRB is expected to vote on the developer's preliminary project plans. A positive vote will lead to further refinement of the plan with the DRB. A negative vote would end the project altogether.

The Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN) and the Vermont Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIAVT) is presenting "Deep Energy Retrofits," a workshop for builders, architects and others, June 19 in Montpelier.

As a follow up to the "Toward Net-Zero Energy Homes" series, this workshop will focus on the deep energy retrofits of homes and other building types.

They'll cover what the nature of the challenge is, where energy goes in homes, and look at the underlying building science. Air barriers and insulation detailing will be illustrated through case study examples.

They'll look at mechanical systems for low load retrofits as well.
