This is far below the income levels the program is designed to serve, which is typically those earning 50 or 60% of the area’s median.

The latest estimates from the Census Bureau’s American Community survey are now easily accessible for Vermont’s towns, villages and counties on the Vermont Housing Data website.
The website also provides aggregated information at the state level and for the Burlington-South Burlington metropolitan statistical area.
Natural gas rate for lower-income Vermont Gas customers available
Effective July 1, 2013, lower-income Vermont Gas customers may qualify for a special rate that is 20% less expensive than the standard residential rate. The rate was created as a result of a Vermont Public Service Board initiative to help lower energy costs for the most financially vulnerable natural gas customers.
