VHFA staff recently analyzed income data of 5,068 tenants of subsidized rental housing in Vermont. The results confirm Vermont's housing organizations are helping those who are truly in need.
As seen above, 61% of tenants of Vermont's assisted rental units have incomes below $20,000; 74% have incomes below $25,000. Not surprisingly, the incomes of households in Section 8 assisted housing were dramatically less than non-Section 8 housing.
Registrations for the Nov. 18 Vermont Statewide Housing Conference continue to roll in.
We expect two workshops will reach capacity today: "What Lies Ahead for Vermont's Housing Economy" and "State Housing Policy Highlights" both have only a seat or two still open.

VHFA Policy & Planning Manager Maura Collins is speaking today to a State and Local Politics class at Norwich University.
She'll address approximately 20 upper-level students on the Northfield campus on the topic of state and local housing policy.
Maura also teaches a graduate level course on housing policy at Burlington's University of Vermont.
VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter will join Charlie Baker, Executive Director of the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), and others on Channel 17 next Thursday.
They'll be speaking about the recently announced $995,000 Sustainable Communities Grant CCRPC was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). VHFA is a partner in the grant.
The show will air live Nov. 11 from 5-6 p.m. EST on Channel 17/Town Meeting TV. Channel 17 serves the communities of Burlington, South Burlington, Essex, Essex Junction, Winooski, Williston, St. George, and parts of Colchester.
