Last year, VHFA highlighted the need to increase the pace of home building to 5,000-7,000 Vermont homes each year in the statewide Housing Needs Assessment.  Even though estimates of Vermont’s recent population growth were modest at that time, longstanding housing shortages grew more severe. 

Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is seeking a Homeownership Director to serve as a key member of the agency’s leadership team. This role leads the strategy, implementation, and overall performance of VHFA’s homeownership programs and serves as the Agency’s primary internal and external subject matter expert on homeownership policy and mortgage programs.

Last week, VHFA announced the release of its draft 2027-2028 Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) which establishes the policies, priorities, and evaluation criteria the Agency will use to allocate federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Vermont Affordable Housing Tax Credits. In addition to collecting written comments, VHFA is holding a public hearing on the QAP on April 6 from 9:00am-12:00pm.

The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has announced the promotion of Mia Watson to Program Development Director, a new position created to lead the design, implementation, and assessment of housing programs. In her new role, Watson will ensure integration across programs and departments and be responsible for new resource development to advance the agency’s mission.
