The Vermont Housing Finance Agency Board of Commissioners approved awards on Monday, April 21, 2025, of federal low-income housing tax credits to build approximately 128 new affordable homes. Four out of seven proposed development projects were selected to receive $3.4 million in federal housing tax credits which will generate $31.5 million in equity for housing development costs.
Architects offer free housing design service for Vermont towns
The Vermont chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-VT) and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI-VT), will host a design charrette session for Vermont communities on May 9, 2025. The charrette is designed to help communities that would benefit from pro bono input from architects, especially areas that have been hard-hit by flooding events in recent years, or in anticipation for other impacts of climate change.

Housing targets illuminate path to balancing Vermont’s housing supply
In January the Vermont Department for Housing and Community Development published statewide and regional targets that provide a pivotal opportunity for Vermont communities to address housing shortages. Derived from the recent statewide housing needs assessment, these targets indicate that Vermont’s housing supply will meet expected demands if it increases by 28,000-41,000 homes by 2030.
