Benefit for residents with flooding at Cedar’s Edge apartments
A calcutta and silent auction to benefit the residents whose apartments were flooded just before Christmas will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 6pm.
Tickets are $30 for one person and $10 for each additional person in your group. Silent auction items will also be available, followed by a live band.
The event will be held at the St. John's Club is located at the end of Lakeside Avenue in Burlington. Proceeds will be used to support the tenants who were the hardest hit when a coupling crack in a fire suppression and alarm system at Cedar’s Edge, a new apartment building on Susie Wilson Road in Essex, caused the building to flood on December 20.
HUD Consolidated Plan public hearing on Feb. 13
The State of Vermont’s Department of Economic, Housing and Community Development will conduct a public hearing in preparation of developing its 2012 Action Plan for the HUD Consolidated Plan for 2010-2015, to hear views about the State’s housing and community development needs, including priority non-housing community development needs and development of proposed activities, and review past performance related to its HUD Consolidated Plan.

Next Thursday, February 2, 2012, Vermont's Joint Committee on Tax Credits will conduct a public hearing to discuss changes to the Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) used to select the projects that will receive state and federal housing tax credits.
Housing tax credits have become the primary source of funding for the development of affordable rental housing in Vermont. As administrator of the state's housing credit program, VHFA awarded nearly $7 million in tax credits to 21 apartment projects in 2011 which will provide much needed housing to low and moderate income renters across the state.
New access rules and standards from the VT Division of Fire Safety
The Vermont Division of Fire Safety has issued new proposed Vermont Access Rules and Adaptable and Visitable Standards for Dwellings. The rules will become effective on March 15, 2012.
A public hearing to discuss the proposed rules is scheduled for Friday, February 17, 2012, at 10A M, at the Division of Fire Safety office located at 1311 US Route 302 in Berlin, Vermont

Tax credit allocation plan hearing next week
A public hearing to discuss changes to Vermont's Housing Tax Credit Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) will be held on February 2, 2012 at the National Life Board Room in Montpelier, from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
