You can help Puerto Rico's Caño Martín Peña Community Land Trust

Caño Martín Peña, a sister community land trust to Vermont's own Champlain Housing Trust, needs our help to rebuild the homes it operates for 26,000 lower income San Juan residents.

September's hurricanes have left these homes partly or completely destroyed. Donations will be used to buy construction materials and replace furniture and goods for those who have lost everything.

New England Federal Credit Union gives $1 million for affordable housing

New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) President/CEO John J. The money will be awarded by VHFA over the coming year to several housing developments that have funding shortfalls.

VHFA helps spread warmth to area children and teens

With the outdoor temperature near zero, VHFA’s Steve Gronlund headed out this afternoon to deliver candy-stuffed gloves, mittens and hats for at least 100 kids to the King Street Center. The Edlund Company partnered with VHFA this year to collect gear donations from staff and friends.

The mitten drive is a much-loved annual tradition that is part of VHFA’s year-long schedule of charitable activities.

Local elves help make annual mitten stuffing a huge success

A bus from The Edge Kids & Fitness after school program brought 25 young helpers to VHFA yesterday for the Agency’s annual mitten stuffing. Aliya  (pictured) and her fellow elves got right to work in VHFA’s board room, helping to stuff 175 sets of mittens, hats and gloves with candy. VHFA will deliver the bounty this afternoon to the Sara Holbrook Center and King Street Youth Center for distribution to local kids and teens in need.

VHFA sends out a big thanks to all of the knitters and shoppers who donated such high quality outerwear for this wonderful holiday event!

Annual Mitten Drive

It's time for VHFA's annual mitten drive. This year, we will be donating stuffed mittens to benefit the Sarah Holbrook Youth Center and the King Street Youth Center. Both programs are vital community resources for children and teens. Please drop off mittens, gloves or hats at the VHFA office at 164 Saint Paul Street, Burlington by Wednesday, December 16th.

Celebrating Valentine's Day and the United Way

VHFA’s SQL expert Lucas Henderson and multifamily management officer Erin Philbrick are serving up delicious Valentine’s treats to paying customers today. All proceeds go to the United Way!

A team of VHFA go-getters run a series of events, like the Valentine’s Day treat cart, that contribute to the staff's total annual donation of $8,000 to $12,000 to the United Way.
